About me

Olga Shalaeva: Modern Textured Crochet, Inspired by Prague 🧶

My name is Olga Shalaeva, and my passion for crochet started in childhood, inspired by school lessons and the vintage doilies made by my grandmother. Today, I continue this tradition by creating original patterns and finished items that blend lace and texture into a distinct modern crochet style.

My proudest creation is the “Donna” oval doily, which has become a bestseller. It perfectly encapsulates my philosophy: just 16 rows result in a quick, large, and striking piece that always delivers a “wow effect” when given as a gift.

From Photography to Design

I find inspiration for my patterns not only in yarn but also in my second career—photography. When traveling, I love to photograph architectural details like Gothic cathedral roses or patterns on antique tiles, then mathematically adapt these shapes and lines into my crochet designs. My biggest creative challenge is perfectly scaling a design to the desired size.

Czech Quality and My Mission

Working in the Czech Republic, I discovered the ideal Czech yarn that I frequently use for its quality. I create designs for both beginners picking up a hook for the first time and seasoned crocheters. My main message is: don’t stop! Crochet is not a waste of time, but a fascinating craft with real potential, including for income.

I invite you to my shop for finished masterpieces or for inspiring patterns so you can create beautiful things with your own hands!
