Skill level: Intermediate
You will need approximately 200 m of size 10 crochet thread and a 1.25 mm crochet hook. For the best results, I highly recommend blocking the finished doily to define its shape.

Stitch guide (US terms):

  • ch = chain
  • yo = yarn over
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • dc = double crochet
  • 4dc-popcorn = make 4 dc in indicated st or space, drop the loop from hook, insert hook in top of first dc of this group and pull up the working loop
  • beginning 4dc-popcorn = ch 3 (= first dc), make 3 dc in same st or space, drop the loop from hook, insert hook in top of first dc of this group and pull up the working loop
  • sc = single crochet
  • 4hdc-cluster = [yo, insert hook in indicated st or space, yo and pull up the loop] x 4 times, yo and draw through 8 loops on hook, yo and draw through all loops on hook
  • bpdc = back post double crochet
  • beginning bpdc = sl st from back to front to back again around indicated st, ch 3
  • 4fphdc-cluster = [yo, insert hook from front to back to front again around indicated st, yo and pull up the loop] x 4 times, yo and draw through 8 loops on hook, yo and draw through all loops on hook
  • fpdc = front post double crochet
  • beginning fpdc = sl st from front to back to front again around indicated st, ch 3
  • 2dc-decrease = yo, insert hook in first indicated st or space, yo and pull up the loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, insert hook insecond indicated st or space, yo and pull up the loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, yo and draw through all loops on hook
  • 2bpdc-decrease = yo, insert hook from back to front to back again around first indicated st, yo and pull up the loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, insert hook from back to front to back again around second indicated st, yo and pull up the loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, yo and draw through all loops on hook
  • tr = treble crochet
  • dtr = double treble crochet
  • fpdtr = front post double treble crochet
  • ch-3 picot = ch 3, sl st in top of last created st
  • ch-7 picot = ch 7, sl st in top of last created st

  1. ch 8, sl st in first ch to form a ring.
  2. ch 5 (= first dc + ch 2), [dc in ring, ch 2] x 7 times, sl st in first dc. (8 dc, 8 spaces)
  3. sl st in next space, beginning 4dc-popcorn in same space, ch 3, 4dc-popcorn in same space, ch 1, [(4dc-popcorn, ch 3, 4dc-popcorn) in next space, ch 1] x 7 times, sl st in first popcorn. (16 4dc-popcorns, 8 ch-3 spaces, 8 ch-1 spaces)
  4. sl st in next space, ch 1, sc in same space, [*5 dc in next space,* sc in next space] x 7 times, repeat * * once again, sl st in first sc. (8 sc, 40 dc)
  5. beginning 4dc-popcorn in same st, [*ch 3, skip next 2 sts, 4hdc-cluster in next st, ch 3, skip next 2 sts,* 4dc-popcorn in next st] x 7 times, repeat * * once again, sl st in first popcorn. (8 4dc-popcorns, 8 4hdc-clusters, 16 spaces)
  6. sl st in next space, ch 1, 4 sc in same space and in each next space around, sl st in first sc. (64 sc)
  7. beginning bpdc around next st, ch 2, skip next st, [bpdc around next st, ch 2, skip next st] x repeat around, sl st in first bpdc. (32 bpdc, 32 spaces)
  8. ch 2, 4fphdc-cluster around same st, [*ch 1, dc in next space, ch 1,* 4fphdc-cluster around next st] x 31 times, repeat * * once again, sl st in first cluster. (32 4fphdc-clusters, 32 dc, 64 spaces)
  9. beginning fpdc around same st, [*ch 2, fpdc around same st, 4fphdc-cluster around next st,* fpdc around next st] x 31 times, repeat * * once again, sl st in first fpdc. (32 4fphdc-clusters, 64 fpdc, 32 spaces)
  10. sl st in next space, ch 1, sc in same space, ch 5, [sc in next space, ch 5] x repeat around, sl st in first sc. (32 sc, 32 spaces)
  11. sl st in next space, ch 3 (= first dc), 4 dc in same space, 2dc-decrease in same and next spaces, [5 dc in same space as last leg of decrease made, 2dc-decrease in same and next space] x repeat around, sl st in first dc. (160 dc, 32 2dc-decreases)
  12. beginning bpdc around next st, [*{ch 1, bpdc around next st} x 2 times, ch 1, 2bpdc-decrease around next 2 dc (skipping decrease between them), ch 1,* bpdc around next st] x 31 times, repeat * * once again, sl st in first bpdc. (96 bpdc, 32 2bpdc-decreases, 128 spaces)
  13. sl st in next space, ch 1, 2 sc in same space and in each next space around, sl st in first sc. (256 sc)
  14. ch 1, sc in same st and in each next st around, sl st in first sc. (256 sc)
  15. ch 4 (= first dc + ch 1), skip next st, [dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st] x repeat around, sl st in first dc. (128 dc, 128 spaces)
  16. ch 2, 4fphdc-cluster around same st, ch 2, [4fphdc-cluster around next st, ch 2] x repeat around, sl st in first cluster. (128 4fphdc-clusters, 128 spaces)
